Typhoon Yagi which hit South East Asia in September 2024 was the strongest storm experienced in the East Sea in the past 30 years. The typhoon caused major damage to many parts of northern Vietnam including the province of Phu Tho, which was where AVCF carried out its medical mission in 2019.

The devastation caused by the typhoon left countless families without shelter, food and basic necessities. AusViet Charity Foundation (AVCF) knew this was an area that needed out help. We immediately launched an appeal in September. After discussions with local authorities it was heartwarming to know that many other charity groups had also reached out and offered to help, especially with food and other basic necessities.  One area that was often overlooked was education.  Many students lost access to the tools and resources they needed to continue their studies, and their schools were left without the equipment to teach effectively.

Thanks to the generous donations from many people AVCF was able to provide 55 computers for three primary schools in Phu Tho in the Ha Hoa district (Van Lang, Hien Luong and Quan Khe). These computers will help ensure that children could resume their learning, even in the face of adversity. Education is one of the most powerful tools for rebuilding communities and helping the future generations to grow and thrive.

Once again thank you to everyone who donated, whether large or small, your gift has made a significant impact!
